Hawks Playbook Podcast Episode 58 Draft Prospects – Defensive Front 7

Open: Hello listeners and welcome back to the Hawks Playbook Podcast.  This show is the 3rd of 4 shows in the pre-draft player evaluations. Today is the Front 7 on the Defense. Defensive Tackles, Defensive Ends and Linebackers.  Keith and I spent considerable time looking at each position group and identifying players at each level of the draft that we believe the Seattle Seahawks will be looking at.  Both of us spent extra time focusing on mid to late round hidden gem types with Athletic upside that could come in and compete to be rotation type players this year but could provide their real value down the road as they could potentially see starting roles in 2019 and beyond.

Keith and I both think Seattle is likely to trade down from its first pick in the first round, number 18 overall, to pick up additional picks inside the top 100 overall picks.  This is primarily due to the fact that Seattle currently only has one pick in the top 120 picks.  It looks like the real value in the draft could come in rounds 2-3.  So with that said, Bill offers up both a tackle and a couple of defensive ends players that Seattle could have on its Big Board beginning in the 2nd round.

Sit back, listen and enjoy the show. We cover about 18-20 players in total across all 7 rounds and the three position groups mentioned above.  It’s a great podcast and Keith and I have a fun time exploring this group of players where really good value can be had deep into the 7th round this year.  Make sure you join us next week as we record our 4th and final preview show covering Safeties and Cornerbacks.  The following week is the 2018 NFL Draft and Keith and I will host a special 2nd annual 7-round mock draft which you will want to be sure to check out.
