Hawks Playbook Podcast Episode 85 Seahawks Win vs Raiders & Tribute to Paul Allen
Welcome back to the Hawks Playbook Podcast. Keith and Bill open the first half of the podcast with a look back at the career and accomplishments of Paul Allen, Owner of the Seattle Seahawks after Paul lost his battle with Non Hodgkin’s Lymphoma this week. We did take some time as well to explore what it means going forward to the franchise that he not only saved to remain in Seattle, but allowed it to thrive in a uniquely Paul Allen sort of way. There is only one Paul Allen, and he will be sorely missed as an owner, and more importantly, as a human being you touched the lives of so many in such a positive way through innovation and philanthropy. Rest In Peace Mr. Allen.
In the second half of the show, Bill and Keith return to the discussion of football and our most recent road win of the season. A shellacking of the Oakland Raiders Sunday morning in London. It was the Seahawks most complete win of the year so far as the Seahawks executed a superbly balanced win with outstanding efficiency on both sides of the ball. The victory was never in question as the Seahawks led from their first opening drive touchdown in 34!! games. Seattle truly dominated on both sides of the ball racking up countless sacks and QB pressures on defense, and used three running backs to rack up over 150 yards on the ground, and a 3-TD performance by Russell Wilson to squash Oakland. We know Oakland is truly a bottom five NFL team right now, but Seattle exerted their physical will on the Raiders and beat a team they should have in dominate fashion. It was a great win.
This week is the bye week for Seattle and will allow the Seahawks to be as healthy as they have been all year when they return October 28th for a road game vs the Lions. Ed Dickson, KJ Wright, Dion Jordan, Rasheem Green and Nick Vannett should all return to the team and be close to 100% health. That’s great news for a team that all of a sudden is back to .500 at 3-3 and on the upswing. If the Seahawks can catch fire here with 10 games remaining, we definately have a legitimate shot at the playoffs. I can tell you this: No team that the Seahawks will face, wants to face this mean, nasty and physically imposing team. They will wreck you on both sides of the ball. I like it!!
Go Hawks!!
