Seahawks fans wherever you may be, welcome back to the 101st edition of the Hawks Playbook Podcast! Bill and Keith begin in earnest to look at the off-season for the Seattle Seahawks and first up is an initial look at the defensive side of the ball in free agency. Next week we will cover the offensive side of the ball. First we establish our cap room before signing our own guys, and then methodically go through the list of team free agents the team is likely to resign and ball park contract numbers to get us to a true cap space dollar figure that we will have to pursue outside free agents as we begin to rebuild this team for the 2019 campaign.

Hello Hawks Playbook Podcast listeners and welcome back for another show! In this weeks episode, Bill and Keith get together to ask and answer the questions we all have as we look ahead to training camp and preseason, now just a little over a week away. This season, because so many of on long term veterans have left the team for a variety of reasons, we have tons of question marks all over both the defensive and offensive sides of the ball. As usual, both Bill and Keith have a lively conversation to breakdown those questions and give our thoughts as to how we think it will all turn out. Of course, no one really knows all the answers until the pads come on and the games are played…..but its fun to guess!

While there are plenty of question marks, the team remains in good hands with Pete Carroll and John Schneider. We can expect them to make sound decisions, and maybe some difficult roster choices during free agency. We can expect to lose players we all wish we could keep. We can expect to sign players on value contracts that you’ve never heard of in incrementally improve the defense. But don’t expect the Seahawks to be big players. This year is all about consolidating the roster and trying to get younger via the draft, while looking a little bit forward to the 2019 season where the team will have more cap flexibility and a load of newly acquired comp picks to add to the youth movement the team needs to take to get better, and hopefully make a return to the Super Bowl.
