Welcome back to the Hawks Playbook Podcast. Your hosts Bill Alvstad and Keith Myers breakdown the loss to the San Fransisco 49ers this past Sunday as well as take a look forward to the most important game of the season, when the Seattle Seahawks take on the Kansas City Chiefs Sunday evening in Seattle.

The Seahawks faced a lot of adversity in the loss to the 49ers, starting with the terrible field conditions. The grass was in horrible condition and the grounds crew over the last several years should be ashamed. This is not the first time this field was questionable and the 49er organization should solve this problem in a permanent way this off-season. As for the game itself, penalties were the largest single factor as the team set a franchise record with 146 yards and 14 calls that went against them. Most were legit. Overall, there was some good individual contributions that should have been enough to get a win. Carson, Reed, Ford and Baldwin all had outstanding efforts. But it wasn’t enough and here we are. The Seahawks stand at 8-6 and a single win away from guaranteeing an appearance in the post season with two home games remaining.

Next up are the Chiefs. The Chiefs come in with a 11-3 record but have shown some vulnerabilities when facing teams on the road this year. The formula for the Seahawks to win remains the same in this game as it has been for most games this year. Run the ball like crazy, control the clock and slow them down just enough on defense and try to get a couple of turnovers. Both Keith and Bill feel like the Seahawks should have a chance in this game, but the team is going to have to stay aggressive on offense for the entire game, and Brian Shottenheimer and Co have not been able to show that they can consistently do that. If they can do that in this game, we could have a barn burner at Century Link and eek out a high scoring win that could propel the franchise forward for a long time.

Go Hawks!!
