Hawks Playbook Podcast Episode 93 Seahawks Conquer Vikings & San Fransisco 49er Preview
Hello Seahawks fans wherever you may be! Welcome back for another edition of the Hawks Playbook Podcast. Join your hosts Bill Alvstad and Keith Myers as we do a deep dive into all things Seattle Seahawks. Obviously we’re feeling really good about taking care of business Monday night against the Minnesota Vikings. The Vikings came into the game just behind the Seahawks for a wild card spot in the playoffs and left with their clubs and shields scattered asunder, and the loss is yet another playoff contender pushed aside as the Seahawks look to clear their own path to yet another run in 2018/19.
As games go, this one was a defensive battle until the Seahawks pulled away in the 2nd half of the 4th quarter. Before that, Seattle had managed to score on two Janikowski field goals, and the defense shut down Minnesota’s running game and passing game through 3 quarters, but with the Vikings setting up to score on a field goal, Bobby Wagner jumped the line and blocked the kick, which then began a series of events that led to 15 points in just over 4 minutes of play. Seattle took over possession and Russell Wilson scrambled for 41 yards down to the Vikings 10 yard line and a few plays later, Chris Carson blasted his way into the end zone to make in 12-0. Seattle added a two point conversion to Tyler Lockett to make it 14-0. After the ensuing kickoff, and the Vikings looking to play catch up, Cousins dropped back to pass and Jacob Martin came swooping in to strip sack cousins and Justin Coleman scooped up the loose ball and ran it in for a touchdown! 21-0. While that would not be the final score of 21-7, the Vikings were all but shut down until that final scoring drive with the game completely decided by then.
Now the Seahawks stand at 8-5 with three games remaining. Next up: The San Fransisco 49ers. The Niners have 3 wins on the season including last weekends win on the road against the Broncos. The Seahawks beat the 49ers 43-16 in their match up just two weeks ago at Century Link Field. The Seattle Seahawks can secure a guaranteed playoff spot with a win and they will look to do just that and take care of business yet again down the stretch, in a year full of surprises and exceeding expectations.
Go Hawks!!
